Herd immunity is achieved in one of three ways.

Through mass vaccination, natural exposure as the disease spreads, or as a result of the combination of both so your question is nonsensical.

Omicron ended up being the key to defeating Covid because it spread like a wildfire, made very few people seriously ill and leaves those exposed with at least 6x longer lasting immunity compared to vaccination alone at least in the studies that have been done so far.

You might want to look again, the line is only slightly elevated at all from Q3 in 2019 and that includes nearly a million Covid related deaths.

If anything it shows that Covid was almost universally only killing those who were most likely to die from any or all causes during the same period so no significant increase in total US mortality is being shown.
