It's a way to dispose of thousands of women. The governor of New York looks at those over flowing shelters with no idea what to do with the living bodies of the unskilled and illiterate, whose sole value is in their vaginas. They can't all clean houses, even if they were assigned one Sq ft each. Prostitution, with its short, brutal life is an answer.

We are accepting a level of trafficking of women and children right now as we know it is happening and the current laws cannot stop it.

Prostitution being illegal makes it harder to stop as the women have the added fear of being jailed if they go to the authorities, while those same men get off with a slap on the wrist at worst if they are caught paying a prostitute.

Not to mention that they could just film it and call it porn and it would 100% legal.

I posted those facts and no one on the pro legalization side seems willing to engage them at all. Legal prostitution seems to increase trafficking, not decrease it.

I saw the study you linked to, and the biggest issue with it is that it is more than a decade old and the data it uses is sometimes twice that old.

What I do know is that what we are currently doing is not stopping, or perhaps even slowing, human trafficking.

When prostitution is legal, the prostitutes can get help from law enforcement and other resources when they are abused.

When it's illegal, they can be controlled and abused by their pimps.

They should have the full protection of the law and their rights fully respected.

They should also have to pay taxes like everyone else.

You need to read this small excerpt from The Guardian article I posted above about a LEGAL brothel in the United States:
