Ranked choice voting excels at finding real consensus. The real consensus, among New York Democrats, is socialist. That shouldn't surprise anyone. But among the general voting public, there is no such consensus. If RCV were used in the general, Cuomo, or a more moderate candidate would win. Unfortunately, they're not using RCV in the general, so lesser-of-two-evils will carry the day and Mamdani will likely win.

No, that's reality. Ranked choice is the dumbest idea ever. It encourages voters to be too stupid to make an informed decision the first time. A series of do overs until there is a winner because nobody wants to take responsibility for their crappy initial vote.
