NAFTA started with the Reagan/Bush administration. It was Reagan that pushed Congress for deregulatory policy that allowed corporations to set up shop in China to bust up unions, and opened the American economy to the Japanese auto industry. It introduced the country to the new super Walmart, that is the largest importer of Chinese goods into the country, and the desecration of American Main St. mom and pop stores.

The version of NAFTA signed into law by Clinton, was the tariff free zone between the US, Canada, and Mexico. This further led to American companies opening manufacturing centers in those countries, which just last year led to the closing of a Carrier plant in Indiana, that moved to Mexico, after the Trump administration gave them huge tax cuts not to move, but they did anyway.

Nobody has clean hands when it comes to NAFTA, but the lowest common denominator is Reaganomics, which even VP H.W. Bush called voo doo economics, and was forced to raise taxes to ward off recessionary pressures due to both supply side economics (trickle down), and NAFTA.

NAFTA and trickle down economics are tied together at the hip, and it's one big shit sandwich everyone will continue eating, until the day Reaganomics are totally repealed, and the US is brought back to pre 1980 tax and regulatory policies.

The largest expanse of economic prosperity in the US, was between 1945-1979. When corporations were not allowed to relocate abroad with out serious penalty, and it was illegal for corporations to buy back their own stock. Corporations avoided the upper tax rates then by investing in their companies and paying their workers pensions. IRA's were never intended to replace pensions, and between the loss of American union labor, and the loss of pensions after years of service, coupled with huge tax cuts, and the deregulation of rules regarding corporations, is what has led to the loss of the American middle class, and the crushing national debt, that was less than $1 trillion before 1980.

Those are the facts, whether or not you can deal with them. Or you can continue listening to political and religious lunatics on the radio, and continue the failures of voo doo economics.

And there we have the point: Regulation of private industry. It is the center of everything. You can´t flip a stub as a private person, but if a company poisons the entire landscape just to save some money, that´s ok. • The United States will restrict travel for non-U.S. citizens from South Africa and seven other countries starting on Monday as a new Covid variant emerges.
