A very large number of Americans have always spoken Spanish as their first language. That's nothing new. America has always been a multicultural and multilingual country.

Perhaps you've lived in a bubble your whole life.

I've worked in a factory where many of my coworkers lived with more than one family in small apartments. All the workers were here legally - most were Puerto Rican. The factory owner refused to pay a living wage.

Personally, I like Mexican and Chinese food...to name a few. I guess you'd prefer to eat possum like your hillbilly ancestors.

I understand that learning a second language is beyond your intellectual capacity, and it makes you feel threatened. Too bad for you!

What's threatened is American culture which I know you are too myopic to see. Yes people learned new languages for shits and giggles. Kids took it in high school for some extra credit. But it was never a prerequisite for a job, especially a government or customer service job. Today it is because they are changing or trying to change our country. This is what happens when there are too many here at once which is the case now.

You must be a young punk, but when I was a child people were coming here from Europe off the boat. They all came here legally. When they got here they all strived to learn our language, not pressure us to learn theirs. They felt privileged to be here, not that we should feel privileged to have them like these south Americans. No computers, DVD's, no internet. They went to night class as tired as they were from working all day. They felt it was the least they could do for the honor of being an American. They had so much pride for their new country.

In our area it was Polish. Yes, when they got together at the bar or parties they spoke their native tongue. But once they left our community, it was English all the way. There were no bilingual signs, no interpreters, no ballots in Polish. My sister became friends with another 5 year old girl who didn't know a lick of English, so with the help of my mother as translator, my sister taught her the language. Because her father worked so many hours and couldn't attend the free English class at our Catholic school, she took her knowledge home to teach the rest of the family at their availability.

This is what's going on at our border. If we don't provide some kind of reasonable deterrent, they are going to keep coming.

Trump announced no more filing phony asylum claims. You want to apply for asylum, do so at your US embassy. If you make it to our border to apply, you will be immediately be rejected if it's found you were offered asylum by another country along the way. While your application is being processed, you pitch a tent and wait in Mexico. If you're still there by the time your court date comes up, you will be escorted to court, and escorted back over the border to Mexico if the court rejects it. He told Mexico if they want to keep their US aid, they better stop people from crossing their country to get to ours, and that's exactly what they did.

Deterrents work whether it's Trump's policies or guards in towers shooting down trespassers. If we don't start providing deterrents, this problem will only get worse.
