Obama Immigration Speech: CBS, Fox, NBC & ABC Not Airing

Advertisement Deadline

President Barack Obama will finally be making public tomorrow night what his plan is to overhaul immigration. However, while his primetime speech will postpone part of the 15thannual LatinGrammys, it will not be covered by most of the Big 4 – if any of them.

The administration announced today that POTUS will be speaking live from the White House at 8 PM ET on Thursday. ABC has the fall finale forGrey’s Anatomyon at that time while CBS has ratings powerhouse The Big Bang Theory, NBC has reality showThe Biggest Loserand Fox hasBones. As of right now, three of those networks will not see any changes in their November sweep schedules due to the speech.

While Obama’s speech will be seen on their cable news siblings, Fox and NBC are not carrying it live on their broadcast networks tomorrow night. CNN, along with Fox News and MSNBC, will be showing the speech live. A CBS News division spokesperson says the network will also not be showing Obama’s approximately 15-minute address on Thursday night. The broadcast networks were not asked for time by the administration, sources tell me. The time zone difference will see NBC, CBS as well as ABC adding coverage of Obama’s immigration speech to the West Coast versions of their national nightly news shows.(UPDATE, 2:34 PM:Looks like it is four for four of nets not showing the President’s speech. “ABC is not carrying the president’s address on the television network

Obama to dine with top lawmakers tonight

Obama to dine with top lawmakers tonight - The Washington Post

President Obama has invited senior lawmakers to the White House for dinner Wednesday night so that he can explain his plans to use executive authority to change the nation’s immigration laws, according to several congressional aides.

Obama has invited Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and the leaders of the congressional Asian, Black and Hispanic caucuses, said the aides, who were not authorized to speak publicly about the plans.

Obama did not invite GOP leaders to the meeting, according to aides.

The entire scenario is interesting. The president who always promises to "go big" plans to unleash his plans to the waiting public on his "Immigration Policy.]" It doesn't appear everyone is eager. Certainly not the people who would rather watch their usual Thursday night shows. ABC,CBS, NBC, and FOX have all declined to air his speech. They need ratings and the president and his policies won't get them there.

As the president said right after the election, he was looking forward to working with the Republicans, he has his first chance by meeting with them for dinner tonight to discuss this new policy. But, they were not invited. Just the Democrats.

So, the networks ignored the President, the President ignored the Republicans just as the people ignored and were disgusted by the president during the last election. My how the tides have turned.

The president and his antics won't stop the people from watching their favorite shows, lol.
