Need a demographics guy…what percentage of Democrats are boat owners?

I have been swamp by a barge, without losing the boat. I have broken on canoe, greatly exceeding design limitations (you may get by the laws of man, but the laws of physics are absolute), and it flipped a white water triple walled, Kevlar reinforced, foam filled, totally unsinkable canoe over a rock, where it was pinned by hydraulics, until the white water raft people cam along, jump on it while passing over, attempting to dislodge, but drove one of the struts all the way vertically through all layers of the sidewall. It was an expensive fking day on a class III-IV river. At least they helped me recover what was left and gave me a ride to where I had planned to get out.

Yeah...I've folded a few canoes over the years.
We used to canoe or kayak the S. Llano river at flood stage.
We'd get a warning call from up river that it was coming up,we'd load up our stuff and wait for it to rise.
We'd do that run and then go further up river and run it from there. What was normally a two hour paddle turned into a 30 minute paddle.

I want one of these...

Sounds like fun. Harder here in West Tennessee. I'm at least 2 1/2 hours from decent white water depending on my driving speed and many of these flush like a commode, so timing just to run them is complicated, being on, while they fill up from upstream of you can become a critical error, depending on skill and equipment.

We did this from our weekend place.
We've seen the river rise and fall dozens of times and we've ran it at all levels.
The best thing about the S Llano is it never drops below a certain level even during drought times so you can always paddle it.
And it's the only river in Texas that flows south to north. It's all spring fed.

I have a bunch of pics but they're all pre digital. I'll have to drag em out and take some digital photos of the river and the weekend place.

That is a significant spring fed river. I have Kayaked, canoed and johnboat trout fished the Spring River in Northern Arkansas, that comes out of Mammoth Springs. Even in heavy weather, it does not seem to vary flow, that much 99% of it coming out of the spring and is regulated by the size of the hole in the bottom lake and spillway at Mammoth Springs, Arkansas.

I would never say all boaters are good boaters… That wasn’t the intent of the thread…I’ve been an avid boater for decades and I’m not sure I’ve encountered a half dozen Democrat voters while on the water…I’m quite fascinated by the fact that basically only Republicans boat…aren’t you? What’s the correlation?

How the **** are you going to tell the politics of some other person in a boat you are not on?

I own a 30 ft sailboat (wanna buy it...I'm selling)

In my experience power boaters hardly ever leave the dock. They drink and carouse as if they have water based campers.

Are they Republicans? Yo tell me.

I remember a close friend of the family telling me many years ago that a boat was a hole in the water you throw money into.
Yup. And the two happiest days of a boat owners life are the day he buys the boat and the day he sells it.

Ya know, a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into, right?

.
I've been saying that since just after a friend bought a pool in the 80's. I bought a boat at the same time. We both used to say we had different holes but we were both throwing money into them.
