I have to admit that I believed the polls this time around that it was neck and neck. It seemed to me that, unlike 2016, in 2024 there didn't seem to be any in the closet Trump supporters who were being coy about who they were going to vote for. I actually still believe that part.

But, the polls seemed to be grossly in error regarding the turnout, especially the lack of turnout for Harris. She was just another Biden 2.0 (she admitted that herself) and voters were done with the Biden administration. Many Americans just preferred Trump to four more years of Biden/Harris and had no incentive to go out and vote for Harris.

The most interesting stat of this election is that out of the voters who claimed they were voting to save democracy, 58% of those people voted for Trump.
