I don't follow the NBA closely but I do recall reading an article recently in which certain players, especially one J. Harden, took advantage of a current rules interpretation on fouling a shooter, specifically he will stop in front of his defender then jump into said defender while shooting, thus being the beneficiary of a 2-shot foul. Defenders consider this a bullshit foul, since the contact is initiated by the shooter and not the defender. The article said that referrees had been instructed NOT to call those fouls any more, just leaving it at, "no harm - no foul."
A review of tonight's box score (the Nets lost), shows the aforesaid Harden scoring 33 points on 9 of 20 shooting (1 3-pointer), and 14 of 18 from the foul line. The total free throw attempts in the game was 37, meaning that everybody else got an aggregate of 19 attempts, to Harden's 18.
I realize this is only circumstantial evidence, but I'm guessing he's up to his old tricks.
