I have posted elsewhere that the fact that the Democrats now have AOC and Crockett emerging as the leaders of the Democrat Party illustrates how ridiculously thin the Democrat bench is.

But could they be elected? If the GOP blows it and doesn't produce measurable and appreciated results by the 2028 election, I wouldn't say that is impossible. Not after the Democrats had nobody better than a senile/severely cognitively impaired old Democrat professional politian with almost nothing commendable to show as a track record to run in 2020 and, after a disastrous first term, again in 2024. And when he was obviously losing in 2024, they replaced him with another professional politician with a non existent commendable track record and the lowest approval rating for a VP in U.S. history.

They have no ethics, no morals, no vision, no agenda they can defend, and apparently nobody of merit to run for much of anything these days.

Not so concerning as more typical of the left I think. The left can't fathom how ditching DEI in favor of meritocracy not only benefits us all but it is the best policy for women and minorities who will never again have to bear the stigma of being the 'affirmative action' or ' token' employee even for those who are highly qualified/competent/effective.

Bernie Sanders should have been the nominee in 2016 and 2020. He had the unflinching support of the progressive wing of the party and could have easily turned that into an unstoppable groundswell. He was cheated twice by the establishment who simply would not allow that to happen.

Fast forward to 2028 and the establishment will be either all dead or retired, along with almost certainly Sanders himself. I think Nate Silver may be right - 2028 will be the moment when the Sanders-nee-AOC wing of the party will finally come into its own.

A full-on democratic socialist (read "populist") ticket will be instructive. They might be what Trump has been to the right for the last decade - a complete rebranding of the Republican party, or they will be so utterly humiliated as to force the Dem party to cast off its radical left wing root and branch.
