National Parks are pure socialism. Preserving the best and most unique for the use of all. But you think that is evil, Flacaltenn? Really?
Yeah, I think it's wrong. The Federal government is not supposed to be in the land ownership business.
While you like to point out the few limited number of national parks that only preserve some nature aspect, the vast majority are there to enrich members of congress, at the expense of the public.
It's also Constitutionally illegal. The Federal Government does not have the power to own land within states for this purpose.
Now if the state wants to own tracts of land... ok. That is constitutional.
But you have Al Gore with stock in Occidental Petroleum, arranging the sale of oil rights of the Elk Hills. Which is only possible because the Federal Government owned that tract of land. Made Al Gore millions richer.
Again, if the state wants their state senators doing that, that's their deal. But the Federal Government has no right to do that.
Nor does it have the right to own the vast majority of Nevada, and charging the peasants for working the land for the Feudal Lord. We're not supposed to be a Feudal system, where government owns the land, and peasant work the land for a price.
