My new wooden deck

I went to a warehouse that used to give away old wooden pallets for free to make my deck.
But now they want $600 bucks per pallet. ...
600 bucks per one old used wooden pallet??? Are they made by a firm that produces Stradivarius violins?

Come over here and you will be able to find one for as much as 4 bucks.

If a deck is a permanent improvement, a building permit is generally required. Local practice and the diligence of the local building inspector may play a role, but the downside of being an outlaw is that the building inspector can demand that you remove it and re-build to code.

I had the experience once of having extra concrete left when my driveway was complete, so we threw down some forms and got a start on a sidewalk (planned for later). But we did not put wire mesh in the couple blocks of sidewalk and they made me remove it.
