But, according to CNN: US mass shootings: At least 45 in the month starting with the Atlanta spa shootings - CNN , there have been 45 mass shootings in the last month.

Why are they trying to ban AR-15s?

Because they fear the populace and want more control. The AR/AK/ "assault rifle" bull shyte is just the first step. Handguns will follow, then any gun they choose to add to the list. Short term, I think they plan to use Red Flag edicts to selectively censor and or punish political enemies. They'll find that it won't work in many states because their actions will be too overt to deny.

Why are they trying to ban AR-15s?

There haven't been 45 mass public shootings......they are lying...

They use the term "mass shooting" because they know most Americans will add the word "Public," when they hear "mass shooting." Mass public shootings are not the same as gang members shooting at each other, or criminals shooting at each other....

Americans know that if they don't associate with actual criminals, or live in democrat party controlled voting districts, the chances they will experience any kind of shooting is just about zero.

So....in order to scare uninformed Americans into giving them the power to ban and confiscate guns, anti-gun extremists have to lie about "Mass Public Shootings....." the only kind of shooting that most Americans are actually concerned about....even though they are more rare than getting hit by lightning....twice.........

In a country of over 350 million people........those are the actual numbers for actual mass public shootings......it is hard to stampede uninformed people into giving them power with numbers that low.....

So...what do you do?

You lie, and throw in every shooting by every criminal and then call them "mass shootings," with the full knowledge that uninformed people will hear "mass shooting," and think that that means a random stranger walked into a random public gun free zone and started shooting innocent people...When in fact, those shootings are gang members shooting at rivals, and criminals murdering other criminals...with no connection to innocent Americans.

This is why anti gun-extremists can never be trusted.....the truth, the facts and reality don't support their irrational fear of guns and gun owners......so they lie......

Dating back to at least 2005, the FBI and leading criminologists essentially defined a mass shooting as a single attack in a public place in which four or more victims were killed. We adopted that baseline for fatalities when we gathered data in 2012 on three decades worth of cases.

Why are they trying to ban AR-15s?

Because a population armed with AR type weapons can be rather quickly trained up into an effective guerilla resistance force. Add in .50 BMG bolt action rifles loaded up with surplus HE/AP rounds and you've got yourself a fighting force capable of stopping police armored vehicles. Meaning, such a civilian force could take and hold actual territory/strategic infrastructural targets.
