I'm a conservative and I want to do something about gun violence.

But I want to do something about the real root cause of gun violence, criminals. More rules on guns, taking away guns, limiting guns and so on doesn't actually fix anything. If you took every gun away you're still left with the criminals.

Criminals and the people who blame America first are the actual problem with gun violence. There are 400 million guns in America, if guns actually caused violence we would all be dead right now.

The number of school children killed at school each year has remained about the same for the last thirty years. The actual number is about ten. Far fewer than the number of kids who die in auto accidents going to or from school.

It is not a problem that warrants significant nationwide action.

As for "hardening the schools," what lesson do we want to teach our young kids? That there are psychotic killer out to get them every day? Jesus fuck, we already have more than our share of neurotics in schools.

Until a large majority of Americans have given up the 'woke' PC watch-your-pronouns and every other screwball ideological mentality that sees a devil in every conservative, Patriot, Republican and starts looking at how and why gun crime flourishes, nothing will change.

Law abiding gun owning citizens are NOT the problem.

Greedy, angry, vindictive, sociopathic, and/or opportunistic people with no conscience or moral center who have guns or other weapons are the problem.

We need to present a unified front and message that gun crimes are not brave or noble but are the tools of losers and failures in society. That what they do is evil and wrong and indefensible and will not be tolerated.

We need to deep six this insane notion of cashless bail and make it socially unacceptable for do-gooders to be bailing out violent people instead of them thinking it is some noble thing. These people should be sent before a judge and jury and, if convicted, sent to prison for a long enough period to get their attention. And they should lose their gun privileges for a good long time as well.

When there is no reward but loathing and contempt for law breakers and far more certain consequences, we will begin to see violent criminals become rare again
