1) We make it easier for people to come here. We remove quotas. Basically immigrants have to prove three things:
- They can support themselves
- They aren't carrying diseases
- They can pass a criminal background check
2) If they remain here for seven years (they are allowed to visit home for say one or two months a year), then they qualify for citizenship
3) If they just want seasonal work, we provide them with an appropriate visa, say for four months. We also can provide a limited visa if they are visiting family
However, their requirements:
4) They do not get paid "benefits" like welfare until they are citizens. If they run out of money, they need to go home
5) As a transition for the first year of implementation, we simply return them home for a first offense of being caught here illegally. After that, they serve a prison sentence for being here illegally. Meaning their second strike in the first year, or any time they are here after that
6) If they are convicted of a crime while here illegally, their sentence is automatically doubled. If they are here legally but commit a crime with a gun, their sentence is also doubled
7) For people here illegally now, they need to report and perform step number one. If they can, the clock starts now, they don't get credit for the time they were here illegally, but they can stay. If they can't, they are deported.
8) We do not build a wall, but for anyone caught crossing the border, they are considered here illegally. Which means first time in first year they are deported, after that they face a prison sentence.
This is neither the Republican nor Democrat plan. It makes it easier to come here, but dramatically increases the consequences of not doing it legally. So?
