He got US citizenship in 1929.
For some reason, he took the family back to Germany in 1930, but was back in the US by 1931.

It encouraged immigration from NOrthern Europe, which is where my Grandfather came from. But leave it to you to harp on a stupid point because you are a stupid person. I said it was easier to immigrate then than it is now. I know this because I just had to handle an immigration issue with my wife that required 200 pages of documentation.

My grandparents didn't have to go through anything nearly that intense.
