My first time in Life getting something delivered by UPS

Up until now, It was always USPS or Amazon. Im waiting on 2 laptops to arrive and was wondering how do they notify u when u are home waiting to sign for a package? Do they let u know they outside? Or do they let u know they in the area? All this has stopped me from eating today so I can be in position to run outside like a crazy man to sign for my laptops lol
You need to invest in a Ring system.

I set it up I was just wondering has anyone else had a UPS experience that went well
UPS is the most reliable here by far, it isn't even close.
You can set up text alerts that will text you when it is delivered, which occurs within 30 seconds of dropping off.
Also - do you not have a camera on your front door?? In 2025??
If you did - you would know immediately when it delivers

But they should if it has to be signed for
I would imagine a lot of folks don't provide their mobile number. The texts of course are automated so the driver doesn't have to take precious time composing the text.

Here everybody--Fed Ex, UPS, USPS all just put the packages at the front door unless it is specified that somebody sign for them which we never ask for. But we are fortunate that our entry is inside an enclosed small courtyard and not visible from the street so porch thieves have never been a problem for us.

But if we or our neighbors are not home to receive a package, all of us will take care of that for each other.

If you don't have that blessing yourself, a post office box might be your best bet.

1. It has to be signed for
2. I dont live in a house
3. I live in a apt building

all it says is it will be delivered by 7pm

I live in a apt building not a house for them to knock on the door

Then I would expect they will either press your buzzer telling you to come down and greet them or they will enter the building and come to your apt, however others generally contact you to receive a package.

Yes all the time. Waiting for some screws for a Holosun to be delivered tomorrow.

USPS started disappearing packages of mine and would mysteriously reappear when I complained or called the postal inspector. Since then use I UPS or Fedex.

If it has to be signed for then I should
In the future you can have your package routed to an authorized UPS delivery center to be picked up by you. Same for Fedex. I have had to pick up certain firearm parts like that.

Amazon also has delivery centers -basically lockers nearby- you can use. Home Depots have same and Walmarts have delivery lockers too.

You should be able to see a map on their site using your tracking number which will literally show you the truck moving about your neighborhood. When they get there, they will knock on your door.

If you can hear the knock and just answer the door, you should be good.
If such a real time map exists, I've never been able to find that with the tracking numbers of the major delivery companies. Many services (Door Dash, some cleaning services etc.) do provide such real time maps but I'm not sure that USPS, Fed Ex or UPS do.

I can sympathize with the member that it is a pain having to wait around for a delivery that can come any time between dawn and sunset. Nothing to do about that for this delivery, but many members are offering constructive suggestions as to how to handle it in the future.

I believe the UPS app has the map option for when its out for delivery. Again I am only babbling because I am waiting for my own package.

LOL. It might. I've just never seen that I guess when I've accessed information via the tracking number. It just says 'out for delivery' so I know I'll get it sometime that day. But again our situation is more naturally secure than apparently is the OPs so knowing exactly when a delivery will arrive isn't all that much of an issue. And if we weren't going to be home and it was something really valuable like a computer or whatever, we have neighbors we can ask to put it inside or take care of it until we can get home.
