For weeks, Muslim leaders and community activists had been urging people to attend the meeting to voice their opposition to certain books and educational materials. One of Michigan's most prominent faith leaders, Imam Hassan Al-Qazwini of the Islamic Institute of America in Dearborn Heights, urged people during his Friday sermon to attend the protests.

"Some of those books are completely inappropriate for our children to read," Al-Qazwini said. "Some of those books promote pornography. Some of them promote homosexuality. We don't need this. Go and attend this meeting."

They are proponents of democracy, but only if it supports liberal values," he said of proponents of LGBTQ books. "The moment it goes against liberal values, they are authoritarian and they want to impose their own values on people."

Lets just say that when the parents tried to present the material, as they have done around the country, the school board says that such material is not appropriate to discuss at the school board.

Well it is appropriate for this board (so long as there is no graphic nudity of primary or secondary sex organs)

Why not show the contested materials to the general public instead of solely makexclamitory accusations?

They literally are. I've seen examples of some of these books. It's flat out pornography. Either you're extremely naive and ignorant or a blatant liar defending Big Education because they are part of your tribe.

I Google and Googled some more until I found the books in question.

The Muslims are not only right but right with bells on!

There is no reason whatsoever for these books to be available in any public school.

If not strictly sold in an adult book store they should be age restricted reading in any publicly funded and accessed library.

Penthouse Forums of the 1970's can be seen as very tame porn by comparison with these books. These books ALL include Graphic depictions of repeated incestuous rape or graphic and glorifying descriptions of very extreme sexual same sex practices.

None of these books have ANY scholastic merit as the language used is below a third grade reading level and have some of the worst grammar in print.
I found plenty of information on goodreads on these books. I may not agree with the Muslims theologically but on this issue I most certainly agree.
