Musk "If we don't fix the deficit, America goes bankrupt. It's that simple."

Democrats are like a spoiled teenage girl with an unlimited credit card.

I was thinking more like a spoiled trophy wife who spends you broke on clothes, shoes, manicures and facials by day while sleeping with your best friend the moment your back is turned by night.

None of you actually care about the deficit.

If you did, you wouldn’t be so dogmatically opposed to raising taxes which will be necessary in addition to budget cuts.

You guys are going to cut the budget a little and taxes a lot. That’s going to make the debt worse. But you won’t care.

Nonsense. You don't give an alcoholic more booze.

You want blanket cuts to the budget. Do you think the Democrats would support you?

Likely not. So? You asked me what I would do.

You would get the same threats that Musk is getting. Think it through. A 10% cut would lead to layoffs too.

Not necessarily. There may be a need for a reduction in employee's though. I wouldn't take the juvenile route of Musk though. Nobody would be scrambling to hire needed workers back because someone was haphazard.

I'd address most through attrition.

What if, the Democrats want America to go bankrupt? That would be their opportunity to
"fundamentally change" America.

One must remember that the statist left's dream of dreams is to have a one world without borders. If America went bankrupt it would be just one step closer to their unpractical/fiasco pipe dream of dreams.

They want Western Civilization to be destroyed in order to bring about their utopian globalist dream.
Problem is the Chinese and Muslims aren't going to obey them once the West is laid low.

Don't ask me to address something and then only address a small part. That's quite dishonest.

You want to cut gov't by 10% across the board. That's taking a chainsaw to gov't. Do not pretend that you wouldn't be laying off federal workers. That's quite dishonest.

They claim they’re so concerned about the deficit but they’re simultaneously cutting taxes by like $4 trillion.

So they don’t exactly walk the walk.
Yeah, it's definitely a say one thing that people will support, but do it just to enrich themselves.

When the Tories in the UK said "we're all in it together" to get austerity, but really it was just an excuse for them to cut services and give themselves the money.

Republicans are the alcoholics and tax cuts are your booze.

Don’t be simplistic. Tax cuts make the debt worse.

Again, the taxes do not belong to the gov't. Congress has a spending problem. Americans do not have an excess of personal wealth problem.

Public debt belongs to everyone and we are obligated to pay it.

That’s going to require taxes.

Don’t be childish. No one likes paying taxes but we have to pay for government somehow.

You’re engaging in magical thinking. It’s childish.

No it isn't.

Do not pretend that you wouldn't be laying off federal workers. That's quite dishonest.

I believe we can cut `10% by simply eliminating fraud, corruption and duplicity and not end a single job or cut a single service.

Does that mean at some point there becomes some redundant jobs? Maybe, but as I said I would at first address that through attrition. If it looked like a early retirement package might be valid I would do it the correct way so it actually works.

See. Dogmatic.

The only chance we have at fixing debt takes budget cuts and tax increases.

Either that or you start kicking old people out of nursing homes or some really drastic cuts.

Feelings aren’t facts.

Republicans always say the federal budget is like a household budget.

If you’re in the red, the household would cut back on expenditures.

Granted. No argument.

Would the household also quit their job?

Nope.

That’s what you’re doing with tax cuts.

The problem is, democrats don't think we can go bankrupt. They firmly believe that we never have to pay down the debt as long as we just pay the interest on the debt. Even when 26% inflation slaps them in the face, they still don't believe it.
