The murder rate was 5.6 in 2017, dropped to 5.1 in 2018, then went to 6.8 in 2020. In dropped to 5.7 in 2023, even the article mentioned the murder rate continued to drop in 2024. In other words, the murder rate went up during Trump's first term, it went down during Biden's only term. And even this lower claimed rate is still higher than it was when Trump took office the first.

The FBI changed their reporting system in in 2023 and not all law enforcement agencies are reporting crimes to the FBI. That could be part of the reason. And the trend line has been a decline since 2020.

Remember, this is the same people that were telling you crime was up under Biden, it wasn't. Reports I have seen, often with video, shows a lot of targetting of gang members. There really is no reason to NOT target them. Your skepticism, seems to be a knee jerk to avoid giving Trump credit for this, not a rational logic chain.
