These were justices who went through the ridiculous process of senate s**tshows and were confirmed. They have a specific function. To ensure federal laws comply with the Constitution of the United States.

Which isn't the case here. They made up new law and threw out 50 years of precedent, because instead of having the good sense to appoint justices who were fair minded, Trump appointed a rapist and a religious fanatic to the court.

There was a stupid, foolish, ignorant decision in 1973 that was based on some "right" that William O. Douglas extracted from his ass that nobody had really heard of before. Hiding in the penumbras of his ill-tempered mind. And with that manufactured garbage, Douglas and Co. removed from the states one if the powers they had exercised for almost 200 years.

Actually, you are either too young or too stupid to realize WHY SCOTUS struck down the abortion laws. These laws were on the books, they were ROUTINELY ignored by women and their doctors.

SCOTUS barely "pulled this out of their ass". They had used the exact same reasoning when they struck down the equally silly contraception laws with Griswald v. Connecticut.

The justices returned the power to the states where it is being determined by the people of those states.

Actually, the analysis of Roe was meaningless because the same day, they ruled on Doe v. Bolton, which eliminated any restriction on late abortions under the construct of a woman's health (which is really the only reason any woman would get a late abortion. Nobody carries a baby for 8 months and says, "Fuck it, I'm getting an abortion.")

What amuses me is that you wingnuts screamed to high holy heaven about getting a Covid Shot, but you think it's okay to force a woman to have her rapist's baby in order to please your notions of what God wants.

Exceptions for rape and incest can, and would be made. It's up to the states. Where it should be.

And once you admit how cruel that is, then you have to admit that forcing a woman to have a baby that she can't afford, with a man she really didn't think was good husband material, is almost as cruel.

If the woman can't afford to have a baby then she shouldn't be careless in the act that produces a baby. Simple as that. Contraception is widely available, and easy to obtain. It's called responsibility.

If the woman doesn't know that the act that would be undertaken, could result in a pregnancy, then killing the baby is not the answer...
