Faking or simply not reporting crime stats is a national pastime for Democrats. A stolen car becomes petty theft. Burglary becomes trespassing.

The Cook the Books Party finally getting the recognition they deserve. The Great Redefiners.

Well, now maybe we can examine how the 52 year definition of a recession (a two‐quarter decline in real GDP) set by Julius Shiskin, US Commissioner of Labor Statistics, got redefined by Democrats in the National Bureau of Economic Research. In a panic after the worst recession since the 1930s, Democrats didn't want their new Democrat president (Jimmy Carter) to be saddled with he moniker of recession president.

So they turned to one of their favorite think tanks, the National Bureau of Economic Research, then a mouthpiece for Democrats (more moderate in recent years) and came up with a redefinition of a recession. One so muddy and garbled that no one could really pinpoint exactly what it means, thus letting Carter off the hook, (in case GDP were to sink again) who they thought would be president for 8 years.

Fast foward to 2026, and here they are falling back to their old reliable NBER to pull them out of the ditch (ie. 3 consecutive recessions of Joe Biden 2023-2025)

So while we see the Great Redefiners at work in Washington DC, a city owned & run by Democrats, the DC Police Dept. let's not lose sight of the game Democrats play every time things go bad for them (crime, economy, whatever) that these guys are obsessed with "data", and act like we all have to accept "the numbers", especially when these numbers are coming from their pet book cookers.

Nobody should be surprised to see this in a Democrat city like Washington DC.
