"Mr. President, you don't believe in the Constitution. You believe in socialism."

Politics for dumb people ...

Congress Passes Socialized Medicine and Mandates Health Insurance -In 1798

In July of 1798, Congress passed – and President John Adams signed - “An Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen.” The law authorized the creation of a government operated marine hospital service and mandated that privately employed sailors be required to purchase health care insurance.

Keep in mind that the 5th Congress did not really need to struggle over the intentions of the drafters of the Constitutions in creating this Act as many of its members were the drafters of the Constitution.

And when the Bill came to the desk of President John Adams for signature, I think it’s safe to assume that the man in that chair had a pretty good grasp on what the framers had in mind.

I bet you dummies also think the Founders intended this to be a christian nation.

Nice find BAC

It seems some of the rights attempts to rewrtie history are failing in the light of ..........well.....history.

The founders ended slavery?

General wealfare is not in the constitution?

Solicailists are the devil?

FDR created the great depression?

one has to ask "is your kids learning?"

Ain't that the truth good sister.

I would accuse them of trying to rewrite history .. but the truth is that they simply don't know their own history.

that didn't take long.

As I said, they're corrupt.

You're right .. it didn't take long to expose the ignorance of his question .. and you, simply don't have a clue of what you're talking about.

You're a capitalist .. do you pay more in taxes to support a capitalist system then everybody else .. or do you just whine about it.

See how easy that was?

I'm a socialist ..

Not corrupt
I make a lot of money because I earn it
Not looting the country .. corporatists are
I oppress no one
Not mentally ill
BK employees don't make DBA salaries
Do you pay more in taxes than what the law says?

No, and why should I?

Is that your idea of what socialism is .. that socialists should pay more to support a failing capitalist system then the capitalists do?

I also don't whine constantly about paying my fair share of taxes .. do you?
Ahhh. So you expect OTHER people to pick up the slack.

Liberals are very generous. They'll give you the shirt off someone else's back.

The misuse of the term socialist is so rampant in America and among American politicians as to make us all look RETARDED.

Obama is not ... in any way... advocating government control over the means of production of goods and services. HE'S JUST NOT. He's advocating the AUGMENTATION AND RESTRENGTHENING of private industry For Fuck's Sake.

Some of you really need to pick up a fucking book.

I expect OTHER people to do their share just as I do.

I ask again .. do you expect that socialists should pay more to support a failing capitalist system then people like YOU who support this system? You failed to answer .. wonder why?

I pay my share and don't whine about it because I recognize that taxes are a necessary function of government .. which I suspect is not what you believe or support.

I have a shirt .. lots of them .. don't need yours.

Grow up dude.

I'm not a liberal
Then what are you? You're certainly no conservative. Just how far left are you?

Perhaps you should have asked that before you assumed the stupid.

I'm a socialist and I've made that quite clear.

Idiot.. you indeed are wrong.. the United States as an entity is specifically a union of 50 states and the district of columbia in a form of government known as a constitutional republic...

And it is the likes of YOU who preach socialist programs, statist policies, and government enforced wealth redistribution my taking 2 words out of context and ignoring the rest of the constitution that strictly limits congressional powers and delegates all other powers to the states and citizens...

You're a fucking moron, or you're simply like SO many others who choose to ignore for your own personal needs or for the liberal guilt that you house within you... however that guilt is not all that true, or you would donate of yourself rather than having it forced from others while you take credit for generosity

Whatever "Diamond" Dave.

I'm pretty sure I pay more in taxes then you make working at Burger King.

and if you continue to support the socialist commies in office you will pay even more....and more taxes....until you and Burger King employees are "equal"....i can smell the nirvana from here...

Commies don't pay taxes.

And stop projecting. No one working at Burger King owns a Manhattan Upper East Side Co-op. Like I do.

Honestly, not much. But it is true that military spending in the form of wartime spending, pushes to develop new technologies, or programs like the space race drive innovation in the USA. An insane number of the products we use today have roots in military spending.

I've said for a long time that if the military were handed the mandate to build a modern military that could defend this nation in the event that we were cut off from foreign oil that they'd pull it off. And the inovation necessary to build tanks, boats, and planes that could run on limited/no oil would completely change the game here at home.

It's really surprising that those that cry out against "socialism" think military spending is somehow "sacred". It's not. It's a very big form of socialism. In fact, the United States Constitution is in part..socialism. There are articles and clauses that are socialism.

And I notice in the Republican responses..they focus on national defense (socialism) and breeze right over general welfare (socialism).

I have to say that I don't agree with this, considering that most military spending from the government ends up in the private sector. If the military kept all of the money and created their own weapons, created their own meals, etc...then I would call it more "socialist" The military contracts out private business for everything but putting their shoes on in the morning....it's what Eisenhower called the "Industrial Military Complex." I would hardly call this socialism...it's actually capitalism to the extreme.

Sorta.

It's what Mussolini and his pals called Corporatism.

But in reality..the nexus between Government and Private Enterprise..is Fascism.

Well essentially given I work for the private sector..and you work for the public sector..you've got my shirt.

How's it fit? Probably a little big.

I thought it was socialism??

What you have, is the private sector competing for contracts... that's free-enterprise... THE PROBLEM...is that our government IS contracting out to private contractors. (which I don't like). I think the military, in iteself, should be more socialist and self-sufficient. Military spending is not socialist or facism, it's capitalism gone rampant.

No it isn't.

The type of Military perscribed by the Constitution..is socialism. And actually..socialism "lite". There was never an intention of having a permanent standing army under a central government. The army was to be called, as needed and funded as needed to be reviewed every 2 years. That's basically because one never knows how long a war will last. The navy on the other hand is permanent. To be funded by the government. Or socialistic.

Capitalism implies competition. Without it..you have corporatism.

Which other military is competing for funding?

You could probably say..Blackwater..or what ever the heck they call themselves these days.

Republicans are trying to privatize everything.

If that's the truth...then yes. See I like the truth. It kicks me in the ass sometimes...other times it's seductive and playful. Wherever the truth takes me, it's better than the alternative.

And sticking to the truth must might expose that using a hate-filled term like socialism incorrectly is simply a mask for conservative corporatism gone amok.

Let's all speak the truth instead of party talking points.

You claim to like truth....but you slyly insert "conservative" coporatism in your statement....who says it has to be "conservative" in order to be corporate fascism....?

Um..

Because it is.

In any case..corporations are pretty apolitical. They go with the horse that gives them the best deal.

what's "conservative" about a government taking over your company....?

That's not how Fascism/Corporatism works.

You might want to take a look at companies supported by Fascist governments...during WWII.

Many of them are still here. The governments that supported them..are not.
