Ive just been watching this and its a great film. Gary Cooper inherits a fortune nut wants to give it awat and go home to Mandrake Falls.

But the evil city folk try to get him committed for doing a good thing.
Dis Capra ever make a bad film ?

It probably resonated more back in the 30s when the US was recovering from the depression. But it still packs a wallop even today. Its been remade but ive never seen it.

The golden age of Hollywood never shone brighter.

Hollywood moguls made a million crappy anti-establishment movies back in the 30's. Cooper was better in "High Noon".

No, Capra made movies that made people feel good which is something the people really wanted and needed. Deep thought provoking dramas did not appear to the public in the 30's. When people were afraid they were going to lose their job with little chance of finding another, spending 25 cents to feel good about life was a bargain.
