Jaime was a never Trumper who was not well liked by the local republicans.

Joe Kent is running for the seat again this year after losing to Perez in 2022.

Kent is pro-Trump and popular with republicans, so of course he is portrayed as a Nazi and a "threat to democracy" by the dems in all the TV spots...

I doubt anyone is risking a long prison term for a down-ballot race.

Even the dimmest of dimbulbs would know the arson would not have any effect on the election. IOW, it was not intended to sway an election, it was done to get attention.
