Baseball is now sponsored heavily by sports book entities. So, at this point, absent a shred of evidence that he ever lifted a finger to lose a game or even to shaVE a score, it is absurd that a player with his storied history in baseball be excluded from the HOF.

The way MLB has embraced gambling has certainly weakened the argument for keeping pete out of the Hall. I think MLB should be ashamed for chasing the gambling dollar, but everybody wants money.

Betting on other teams is not cheating, but it was a standing rule in MLB. I think Pete deserves to be in the HOF for his performance on the field (not on steroids).

There is a lot of risk to Managers mixed up with illegal bookies……run up a big losing streak? hold out SP last minute or else we want it all now. We know where your kids go to school. Example only. Other examples I could think of. That said, no evidence Rose was used. Unlike the steroid users with 2 extra hat & shoe sizes.

Pete was not angelic. He was a winner though. A competitor. Moreso than any of the players who used steroids known and unknown. He taught people how to win. I would think in today's world making 35 million dollars a year it may be different.

Pete's numbers are not that great. A good but not great hitter and an OK fielder. Nowhere near as good as other players from that era like mays and bench and schmidt.
