Most of the sane people of Israel wishes to see our children grow up to follow Jewish-Zionist values.

That is what differences us from the rest of the world. Being Jews, and being Zionists.

Be'ezrat HaShem, Rose, we will all embrace Bennett's views of education our children to be more Zionists and devout Jews.

Also, besides that point, our education system needs much more developing, get better teachers and better salary for teachers, so our children will get better education in all places in Israel.

If we Americans regarded service to our nation as a mitzvoh, we'd be much better off. Far too many of my generation put great effort into evading such service - even the non-military alternatives. And far too many of those, polluted our pool of teachers by taking jobs in the field when they had no calling for teaching - they're finally retiring.

A year or two of service to one's country isn't too much to ask - and there are lots of ways to serve which don't involve carrying a gun.

But I don't think the issue of army serive can be looked at the same manner when it comes to Israel and USA. not the same threats, location, POV etc.

It's not a question of Mitzvah, more of the question of "Your brothern will go to war, while you stay and forsake them"?

Judaism is all about Israel being united as one, blood of one Jew is no better than the other, and following the Torah, the Haredim know it. It's a Mitzvah because NOT helping your brothers at time of need is against God's laws.

I think Sunni Man is a little confused here. It is his fellow Muslims who think it is a good deed to kill non Muslims and even Muslims of different sects. I doubt very much that Sunni Man would have said that the present King of Jordan's father was committing a good dead when he had murdered thousands and thousands of Palestinians with the help of the Pakistani Army. For all we know Sunni Man might have been cheering on the Pakistani Army when they murdered 3 million innocent souls in Bangladesh (most of whom were Hindus) and also went on to rape thousands of young girls. Sunni Man would have been on the sidelines yelling HIP, HIP HOORAH. GET THEM EVIL HINDUS.
