In a Republic, actually
‘A Republican-led push to overturn the paid sick leave law adopted by Missouri voters last year was debated and approved Wednesday by a state Senate committee.

The bill, sponsored by Republican state Rep. Sherri Gallick of Belton, was passed by the House earlier this month and would gut Proposition A, a voter-approved law requiring most employers starting May 1 to provide paid sick time off for hundreds of thousands of qualifying workers.

Gallick called the law, which also increased the state’s minimum wage, a “one-two punch for Missouri businesses” that will increase the cost of goods and services and have an adverse impact on small businesses in rural parts of the state.

She has said workers will “abuse” the leave.’

The Republican war on working Americans continues.

The Republican war on the will of the voters continues.

Joe helped by forcing some of America's lowest paid with the worst conditions back to work during the rail workers' strike.

Every democrat I saw who ventured an opinion agreed with Joe not permitting rail workers to bargain their worth but with forcing them back using the power of the state.

Because, apparently, they are 'essential'.

Obviously in American political terms, that means 'disposable'.

Sick Leave should be provided to people but of course, protected against abuse.

The millions of low skilled, under the table illegals who entered America are a greater threat to American employment than this. Just something to consider when debating this issue. It's not a red herring when you have such numbers.

PTO combines sick and vacation time....but since you have never held a job how would you know??

Under the law, beginning May 1, the law requires employers with business receipts greater than $500,000 a year to provide at least one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked.

Employers with fewer than 15 workers must allow workers to earn at least 40 hours per year, with larger employers mandated to allow at least 56 hours.

The law also gradually increases the minimum wage.

Propositions that allow voters to vote themselves a "raise" should never be allowed. That should be handled legislatively.

The increased cost to employers will be passed on to customers which in the end hurts the very workers the proposition was supposed to help.

It seems if it helps the people, Republican's have decided to be against it. I doubt that's going to end well.

Here is the quandary. We push humanity yet we live off of foreign slaves. That is what makes you Progs the worst hypocrites in human history. Why? For you are destroying the greatest experiment in human history.
