I agree that if a President were to simply pull the plug on our involvement in these other nations in the first year of her or his term, the political fallout could be repaired by the time they are running for re-election. But if a president were to campaign on that platform, I think they are slicing their own throat.

domestic spending to me simply means using tax money to pay for national-level projects, regardless of how that's exactly called.
it is definitely not just fascism to me. not even socialism.
it is simply a government policy to stimulate domestic spending.
to give it any other name is to badmouth it without real justification, because by giving it another name, you are already playing a definition game.

well, the USA came to Europe's defense when citizens over here badly needed it, twice. In WW1 and WW2. we still owe them a lot for that.
as for the other wars that the USA supposedly started, it was the US each and every time trying to avert war by projecting strength.
it was the US that echoed "let's use nuclear power only for civilian purposes" in news papers several times, i haven't seen Russia or China do that.
and the resulting Cold War 1 and Vietnam war were a direct result of that Communist refusal to back down from a fight over world-dominance.

can we now finally leave that fight for world dominance behind us please?
