"Yesterday afternoon, the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Truxtun (DDG103) and the Supply-class fast combat support ship USNS Supply (T-AOE-6) collided during a replenishment-at-sea," a U.S. Southern Command spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News on Thursday.

Two personnel reported minor injuries but are in stable condition, the official said, adding that both ships have reported sailing safely.

Well in the civilian realm we call these fueling boats pilot vessels. These vessels transport people and goods to larger ships. I have operated these types of vessels. Delivering crewmen and goods to larger vessels, oil platforms and the like.Any time you dock or tie up to another vessel it is in fact a controlled crash. No damage to either ship would not be a mishap. As far as the injuries go. A band aid can be considered an injury. I have seen small injuries myself during these hook ups especially in rough sea. Not sure we can call this incompetent actions until I know the amount of damage to the ship and the severity of injury to the sailors. Pretty easy to get pinched and need stitches when clamping the fuel hose to the tank. Small injuries are expected in a years time doing such labor. Kinda like I expect busting my nuckles doing mechanical work. I take a lot of hooks per year on fishing vessels. Tough to say anything about the incident with some more details.

PS. Less than 60 days till fishing season. Can't wait for another year under the sun and on the water.
