Mike Johnson gets shredded on the house floor

That didn't happen.
Actually it did happen, Marener...just one more example of how corrupt Merrick Garland's DOJ has been! This isn't the Soviet Union...the State doesn't get to show the evidence it wants to and hide the evidence it doesn't like from defendants. The reason that Biden issued pardons to the Jan. 6th Committee members is that not only did they deliberately exclude evidence that would have exonerated defendants...they destroyed that evidence when they lost control of the House! Biden had to issue them pardons because if what they'd done was exposed some of them would be looking at prison time! When something like that happens any competent jurist dismisses the charges against defendants and if nothing else sanctions prosecutors.

The January 6th Committee is not the DoJ and played no part in the prosecution of any protestors.

The congressional committee has nothing to do with the justice system.

It is. However, MAGAs wish it would go away.

How much time should seditious conspiracy get you? Are you saying that none of the 1500 people released deserved the sentence given?
That conspiracy charge was unlawful, which is why the Supreme Court threw it out. :cuckoo:

The conspiracy charge stood. The obstruction charge was narrowed.

Did I say that?

I was asking your opinion and it seems you are reluctant to give it.

I didn't say that either. However, the MSM and Politicians on the left continually used hyperbolic sensationalism to paint this picture that a bunch of trumpers went in to overthrow the gov't in this coordinated, mass attack, that somehow turned into an insurrection. It was a protest, that went too far. But an "Insurrection"? Come on.

Any gov't that has gone through an actual insurrection scoffed and laughed at what the left was trying to define as an insurrection. The term "insurrection" can be lumped in with all the propaganda like, nazi, fascist, dictator, threat to democracy, etc., over the last 10 years.

I don't disagree that they were inept at accomplishing much of anything.

When a Congressional Committee has evidence that would exonerate defendants in a case and they deliberately hide that evidence from Defense Attorneys they are in violation of 18 U.S.C. 1001 Article IV.
IV. “knowingly and willfully—"
i. “falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a
material fact;”
ii. “makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or
representation; or”
iii. “makes or uses any false writing or document knowing the same to
contain any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry;”

Some 14 members of the right-wing extremist groups who faced the most serious charge to emerge from the events of Jan. 6, 2021 — seditious conspiracy — including former Oath Keepers leader Elmer Stewart Rhodes and former Proud Boys leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio — will now walk free because President Donald Trump commuted their sentences or pardoned them on Monday.

Did the defense attorneys subpoena the committee for any of this information? The committee is under no obligation to provide the court anything without a court order.

If not peaceful, arrest and prosecute. But the punishment should also fit the crime. We have seen real violent criminals with less sentences than those that are considered "violent".

That's not the way it works, Marener. The Government is required to turn over all evidence not just what the Defense subpoena's. Failure to do so can result in a mistrial. If the Government had evidence that would have helped defendants and withheld that evidence? That is a major violation of the law!

The prosecution is required to turn over all information. Brady disclosures does not extend to Congress.

This is true. The defense has no idea what the government (prosecutor) has so it has no way to ask for it.

I have no idea what they had BUT if the prosecution side has evidence that in any way might help or exonerate a defendant they do have to turn it over.

Sadly they often times do not and are never held accountable.

Why would Joe Biden pardon the criminals in the January 6th committee?

How long is a person supposed to serve for assualting a police officer? What is the average time served across the nation?
Assaulting a police officer is considered a violent felony, no matter the type. Usually, probation isn’t an option, putting you in prison from two years to life imprisonment.

The court of law takes all kinds of assault seriously. But, those against police officers are considered horrific. The court won’t support you, making you risk many years in prison.

But when they get caught doing it...the judge in the trial will often declare a mistrial as punishment...or even overturn a verdict. That will sometimes let possibly guilty defendants off the hook but the judge sees that as the result of prosecutorial misconduct...violating one of the tenets of our Justice System.
