He tried before to kill himself without Carter's help.
Carter was very informed on how much carbon monoxide you need to inhale to kill yourself.
This (the whole event) is the same as assisted suicide but falls outside of Massachusetts assisted suicide laws.
She did not call the Police or the suicide hotlines. I say this was murder by her.

Kinda like the OJ civil case, convicted of deaths for money.

I for one, Total happy the guys dead. But we need better laws to allow this option for people to do so.

Law do set a base line, but when we don't stand up to situations such as this it allows those who make the laws continue to pass other laws that spider out into " Everybody's life" in some form or other esp. since loser Bush and Obama have been in office. NDAA think about it.

I don't know enough about the whole situation, but from the little I have heard, she deserved a lot more than 15 months. Of course that is the problem with trying cases on the internet. Lots of people spouting off about something they know little about doesn't guarantee a fair ruling. The people involved with the real trial were the only ones with enough information to make a reasonable ruling. The best we can do is hope they were right.

What she did was callous and directly led to the boys death. Manslaughter conviction was warranted

My daughter suffers from depression, inherited from her mother, who inherited from her mother, who was permanently institutionalized with Bipolar Disorder. Once she found a medication that works for her, she has been just fine. The idiot girl should have went to him and escorted him to the appropriate medical/psychiatric staff, NOT...encouraged him to kill himself. The sentence is acceptable.

There are several medications out there for patients with depression and while he may have tried a few, he may not have tried one that worked well for him. He got out of the car and told her that he didn't feel he could go through with it. When people call someone and talk of suicide, they are calling for help. The ones that are absolutely determined to commit suicide, do so without calling attention to themselves, quietly wrapping up personal affairs, giving away or selling off personal effects and then slip away and commit suicide. This was a kid who suffered from depression and wanted her to talk him out of it, instead she ordered him to "get back in the car" when he got out complaining that it was difficult to breathe in the car. People suffering from depression are unable to make rational decisions during a depressive episode. The judge made the right decision. I suspect that in the future, should she encounter some depressive individual talking about suicide, she will put the person on the phone with a "suicide hotline" or take the person to a hospital.
