Michelle Carter gets 15-month. Texting person into suicide. Would this qualify as Mean Girl?

Roy, 18, poisoned himself by inhaling carbon monoxide in his pickup truck in 2014.

He tried before to kill himself without Carter's help.
Carter was very informed on how much carbon monoxide you need to inhale to kill yourself.
This (the whole event) is the same as assisted suicide but falls outside of Massachusetts assisted suicide laws.
She did not call the Police or the suicide hotlines. I say this was murder by her.
Then you dont know what assisted suicide or murder is.

Well, the laws are the laws.
She was fully involved in planning. This planning is not illegal, But once the
plan is executed. Changes it legally, the whole event into a legal matter.
Kinda like the OJ civil case, convicted of deaths for money.
But was found guilty for the deaths.

So this was outside the Massachusetts assisted suicide laws. So no cover there.

I for one, Total happy the guys dead. But we need better laws to allow this option for people to do so.
Most people stop people from doing this.

So like if I give you all the plans to rob a bank.
I'm an accessory to the crime if you do it. But in this matter, I will
sell them down the river for a deal.

If I tell you to rob a bank and you do it, does that mean I am guilty of robbing a bank? According to you, yes.

Texting suicide case: Michelle Carter gets 15-month sentence
Michelle Carter, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the 2014 suicide of her boyfriend, was sentenced Thursday to a two-and-a-half-year term, with 15 months in prison and the balance suspended plus a period of supervised probation.
"This court must and has balanced between rehabilitation, the promise that rehabilitation would work and a punishment for the actions that have occurred," said Bristol County Juvenile Court Judge Lawrence Moniz.

The sentencing of Michelle Carter, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the 2014 death of her boyfriend, got underway Thursday -- with a Massachusetts judge expected to hear from Carter's family and supporters as well as relatives of her teenage victim, Conrad Roy III.

Conrad Roy Jr. told the court that Carter "exploited my son's weaknesses and used him as a pawn" for her own interests.

:dunno:
Well,...I say some Real Good Tweeting Skills Da Girl got here
I say she a real good Mean Girl Member. Texting some to their death.
Some Girls Are Mean Tweeters. Will she live herself without the Tweet Pad?

The Court of Appeals should throw this out. While what she did was not right, it is not criminal. People do not commit suicide because someone else tells them to do it.

We're walking down a slippery slope when we start prosecuting people for speech.

I cant believe she got found guilty.. its sad...
Ohhhh the pandoras box this will likely open...
Its was like her being mentally ill didnt matter. The fact that she wanted him to end his pain didnt matter..
My daughter suffers from depression, inherited from her mother, who inherited from her mother, who was permanently institutionalized with Bipolar Disorder. Once she found a medication that works for her, she has been just fine. The idiot girl should have went to him and escorted him to the appropriate medical/psychiatric staff, NOT...encouraged him to kill himself. The sentence is acceptable.

Okay. I'm for a life Banning on her. On ALL Internet Chatrooms (all types) Texting or Tweeting. But she can still read them.
And can only use a cell phone on the 911 Emergency help calls.

Too much?

Roy struggled with social anxiety and depression for which he had seen several therapists and counselors, including a cognitive behavioral therapist in the weeks prior to his death. He had been hospitalized for an acetaminophen (paracetamol) overdose at the age of 17; he was talking to a girl he had met in a group and she called the police.[2][3]

Roy's death[edit]
On Sunday, July 13, 2014, following digital exchanges with Carter while interacting with his family, Roy committed suicide by poisoning himself with carbon monoxide fumes in his truck in a K-Mart parking lot. She attended a different high school, King Philip Regional High School, in Wrentham, Massachusetts.

Roy's Memorial Mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett. The Captain Conrad H. Roy III Scholarship Fund at the Northeast Maritime Institute in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, was established in his memory.[5]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Conrad_Roy

Do the sheep even realize the key dangers of this lets help you out :

You can and will be prosecuted for " WORDS" .

One of the things we learned in concealed handgun class was that you can't shoot someone to keep them from committing suicide.

EXACTLY Even the emotional PC judge said he was torn on it. I saw an article that had people bitching about the bullshit totalitarian precedent this sets.
What REALLY gets me is, why in the hell didnt her lawyer challenge this crap!?

Yep even this article on MSN says the same thing :

When Carter was convicted in June, legal experts expressed concern that the case could set a new legal precedent in which words, and not just actions, are deemed to cause death. It was the conviction and not the sentencing that caused that concern for Daniel Medwed, professor of law and criminal justice at the Northeastern University School of Law.

Laws do set a baseline. Like them or not. Fair or not.
I drive faster than the speed limits (65-70)always. This will be a simple ticket under 90.
Above that, say 100 plus I get arrested and the charge will be endangering the public in some cases.
Say down a main street of people. Not so much on freeways.
That plus crashing would change thangs, Yugely, the charges.

Yeah, it's sad. What's next, charging someone for handing the person a fork/spoon if the person chokes on the food they ate with that fork/spoon?

Next thing you know, emotional people will be suing gun manufacturers for what their customers did with those guns.. oh wait..

I don't know enough about the whole situation, but from the little I have heard, she deserved a lot more than 15 months. Of course that is the problem with trying cases on the internet. Lots of people spouting off about something they know little about doesn't guarantee a fair ruling. The people involved with the real trial were the only ones with enough information to make a reasonable ruling. The best we can do is hope they were right.

What she did was callous and directly led to the boys death. Manslaughter conviction was warranted

I agree with the judge on leniency because she was a minor. Teenagers are ******* stupid

If they told the drunk to get back in the car after he had gotten out then, yes, they deserve to be sued

Words dont cause death. Actions do. Try again.
