Meta is tracking employee keystrokes on Google, LinkedIn, Wikipedia as part of AI training initiative
As part of an AI initiative that tracks employee keystrokes and mouse clicks, Meta is monitoring use of popular sites like Google, LinkedIn and Wikipedia.
Article Summary:
- Meta is installing an internal tool called Model Capability Initiative (MCI) on U.S.-based employees’ work computers to capture mouse movements, clicks, keystrokes, and some screenshots.
- The goal is to use that activity data to train AI agents to interact with software more like humans do, including handling routine computer tasks.
- The tracking is reported to run across certain work-related apps and sites, which is why the story highlights tools like Google and LinkedIn as part of the concern.
- Meta says the data is not for employee performance reviews and that safeguards are in place to protect sensitive information.
- Employees reportedly pushed back hard, especially because there was said to be no opt-out on company-issued laptops, making the article as much about workplace privacy as AI development.
LOL....So they want AI to be as lazy as humans.
And to say it won't affect employees is a total canard.
The .gov did the same thing with it's "homers" during the covid and afterwards.....Till they found out half were just logging in then going about their day shopping and such and then started counting keystrokes.
