Meet Your New "James" Bond: Jessie Buckley

Point of No Return was great. A bit of a template there.

I am sure this news will trigger the usual suspects but I dont mind a few years diversion from the typical James Bond fare for a different take on the Bond Universe. They can bring back a dude and James after a break. Daniel Craig killed it and I wouldnt want to follow him either and look like Timothy Dalton... utterly forgettable.

Jessie Buckley is an incredible actress. As long as they handle it like John Wick Ballerina where the 100 lbs woman isnt unbelieveabley out muscling 250lb men I think it will go fine. Ballerina got her ass kicked hand to hand and had to improvise out of it with tools and moves.

Anyway.. nothing will help some of you on this news.

You read correctly: James Bond will be played by a woman for the first time, in the wake of Lashana Lynch briefly taking over the 007 mantle in Daniel Craig’s Bond swansong, 2021’s No Time To Die.

Buckley rose to fame following her role as Rose-Lynn Harlan in Tom Harper’s Wild Rose (2018). The 36-year-old followed that critically acclaimed turn with I’m Thinking of Ending Things, The Lost Daughter, Men and The Bride!, before taking home the Oscar for Best Actress this year for her performance in Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet.

She therefore becomes the first Oscar-winning performer to be cast as Bond.

April fools' day, idiot. :auiqs.jpg:

damn, I was hoping for Idris Elba. He would make a bad ass bond.

However, grats to this woman I hope she doesn’t franchise justice, but if recent history is any indicator, she will **** it up, just like Brie Larsen, Rachel Ziegler and and now, Milly Alcock. Especially Larsen and Alcock, who starred in movies that will be watched predominantly by men, they are using their militant feminism to make political statements and will likely cause a cold reception to their films.

Bond is a movie that is mostly marketed toward men, so let’s see how she handles this.

I hope I’m wrong about this but I can’t see it working. I don’t think the public will buy a female Bond. Can you see her saying the cute little double entendres that have become the trademark of the character? I cannot.

I hope they give her a few movies to see though and don’t pull the plug after one outing.

How are they going to handle the reputation that James Bond always had of bedding the women he came in contact with, will they allow her to portray that with men…or women, or will the remove that trait?

I’m surprised they made this change, I thought the bond franchise had strict rules as to who could play bond

Idris is great. Sure.

Larsen's Captn Marvel is just a superhero. What's the issue with that? Shit. She was always a woman in the comics. Jeez man.

Alcock had a great cameo in Superman which that movie has grown on me. Looks like it is gonna be kind of a guardian of the galaxy movie. I think it may suffer from not being original as it will feel familiar.. We will see. i have an open mind.

Zielger was just in an uninspiring movie. If it rocked no one would complain. It didnt.

Idris was actually the front runner to be bond, but he turned it down because asshats went all racist at the idea of him playing bond, which is sad, because I love his work and I think he would make an excellent bond

I'll bet you're a big fan of the latest Star Trek show: Starfleet Academy.
Star Trek is a series and always has had messages in the individual episodes. I watched 3 of the new one and it wasnt that bad. Most assuredly not Kirk material but Picard was not Kirk either.

The point was he would use and manipulate anyone. Bond’s defining trait isn’t ‘sleeping with women’, it’s emotional detachment and using intimacy as a tool/weapon. The relationships (or acts of XXX) are just a vehicle for that. A female Bond could express the exact same trait through manipulation, seduction, or emotional leverage without it looking identical on the surface with quick bed trips.
