And getting it right and being treated like a pariah by the usual suspects.

...

"The response we have taken has caused enormous societal devastation, I don't think that's too strong a word," he told Fox News in an interview Thursday.

...

"In February I was worried about the virus. By mid-March I was more scared about the economy. But now I’m starting to get genuinely nervous," he tweeted this week. "This isn’t complicated. The models don’t work. The hospitals are empty. WHY ARE WE STILL TALKING ABOUT INDEFINITE LOCKDOWNS?"

...

“Aside from New York, nationally there’s been no health system crisis. In fact, to be truly correct there has been a health system crisis, but the crisis is that the hospitals are empty,” he said. “This is true in Florida where the lockdown was late, this is true in southern California where the lockdown was early, it's true in Oklahoma where there is no statewide lockdown. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between the lockdown and whether or not the epidemic has spread wide and fast.”

He has also argued, in lengthy Twitter threads, that the drop in cases seen in various states has come before lockdowns would have had an impact -- since it takes a few weeks for social distancing measures to take effect due to the window between infection and symptoms.

Saw this fellow last night on TV.. He's got a case to make.. We're all faced with this choice.. More analysis is better than just "dictation"...

My take on this is ---- #reported cases divided by the TOTAL US population is 0.14%... But we're shutting down at least 80% of the economy with no searchlight or GPS to get us OUT of that situation.. There's no precedent.. No economic model that cope with this.. It's a voyage to the "edge of the earth" and the crew is scared...

1.4 out of a 1000 people have REPORTED the disease.. THAT'S IT.. The actual number of INFECTIONS is anywhere from 2 to 50 times higher.. CDC does not know.. But the #reported is primary to the #infected that never sought medical help or JUST DID NOT KNOW they had it..

At this point, since 80% of the deaths are STILL aged or health compromised, should be THOSE FOLKS that are in quarantine and protected.. And MAYBE we need to go from one on one social distancing to a more MACRO version of that where the big URBAN areas remain on "stay at home" longer -- while their NEEDS and SUPPLIES are brought IN TO THEM by the rest of us...

Former NY Times writer comes down with a sudden case of common sense and intelligence.

Hopefully whatever he has will go viral.

The key word is "former". Once a reporter leaves the echo chamber of hyper ventilating left-wing doomsayers, intelligence and common sense are naturally going to return.

I learned a long time ago, that if you place yourself around people that are nuts, it won't be long before just being around them, well cause you to start seeing their insanity as logical, and thinking everyone else is nuts.

If you hang around criminals, you'll eventually start seeing their point of view.
If you hang around adulterers, you'll eventually see the logic of adultery.

It's only when you leave the echo chamber, and start breathing in fresh untainted air, that you can look back and realize.... those idiots at the NYT are brainless fools.

To support what this guy is saying, I found the most disturbing news last night from MULTIPLE sources. It seems Cardiologists and other specialists are VERY concerned that the # of folks reporting to ER with heart issues or strokes IS WAAAAAY down...

They are BEGGING folks to not DELAY going to the ER with serious symptoms. Some are reporting heart attack cases at the door to ER are down AT LEAST 25%... We MAY BE literally scaring people to death by making it seem they are gonna CONTRACT covid in the hospital and die there..

This is why the NAVY tried to restrict those hospital ships to NON-COVID patients. To divert NON covid patients with strokes/heart/etc to a CLEAN environment. .

A related story said NYC coroners finding a LARGE increase in "at home" deaths over the averages.. This MAY BE a side effect that SHOULD not be ignored for long..

Sweden is doing this already. They refused to do what the world was doing. They haven't been really hit any harder than any other country yet.

They are using HERD IMMUNITY.....as most don't even know they have it.............They will be better off than most earlier than the rest of the world.

Very interesting.

Thank you for sharing this.

So if I looked at it this way (all numbers are made up).

1. On a given day 100 people are treated for heart attacks or strokes.
2. On that same day, 100 people die "at home"
3. Now there 75 people being treated for heart attacks or strokes.
4 On that same day 125 people die "at home"

Something like that ?

The powers that be and 80% of Americans have corkscrewed themselves into an untenable position and can’t extricate.
Add in the emotionalism and suspension of reality we have operated under for 4 years and the remaining 20% who can still think and want to contribute to society are really up against it
I’m going to try and get fined or arrested Monday because I won’t wear a mask into the Giant or CVS and my AP reporter friend is trying to clear it that he can go along with me.

That's fine.. But at what cost to the elderly or health compromised?? And how many MEGA cities does Sweden have compared to the USA? EVENTUALLY, herd immunity IS the plan. Either from exposure or vaccine.. But in the meantime, the 75% who are not "high risk" should be eased back to work..

Don't HAVE to have concerts, fireworks, spectators at sporting arenas.. SHOULD quarantine the RISK patients with IMMUNIZED support people shopping for them. Gotta be SOME brakes on "acquiring immunity" the hard way...

Didn't recall the exact numbers.. Didn't want to be dramatic.. But the effect on ME was dramatic.. I could start a thread with the sources... So I said "at least 25% decrease" in Heart/Stroke/other visitors.. And I think the # of at home deaths in NYC nearly doubled..

But STILL -- 25% of people thinking they have a stroke/heart attack are AFRAID of calling 9-11???

My numbers were just an example to make sure I had your fundamental argument correct.

Certainly is not a good thing when people are afraid to go to the ER.

Look at it as a practice run and now we know that the state & local governments, hospitals, and CDC aren't prepared for a pandemic where the whole system shuts down and new supplies of basics will not be forthcoming.

If the state & local governments, hospitals, and CDC's, current whining response in the future is to blame everything on the president because they were to incompetent to plan ahead then we're doomed...... and we'll deserve it.

BURLINGTON, Vt. —
A University of Vermont Medical Center cardiologist is worried about the lack of heart attack patients coming through the door.

"People are staying home despite serious symptoms," Dr. Prospero Gogo said Wednesday.

In a recent informal survey posted on Twitter by Angioplasty.org, a community of cardiologists, more than half of respondents said they're seeing at least a 40% reduction in acute coronary syndrome, or ACS, patients. The Mayo Clinic defines ACS as "a range of conditions associated with sudden, reduced blood flow to the heart."

The analysis in this one below misses the mark on what I said about "at home" deaths.. Attributes the surge to COVID, not fear of calling 9-11.. But I sense it's more of the latter since ER visits are SO far down for heart/stroke/etc.. Number for NYC average in late march at home deaths was 45.. A few days ago it was above 240...
