The United States created Medicare in 1966 as a national health insurance primarily for the nation’s older population. Today, it is administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It is the second largest social insurance program in the country, behind Social Security.

Medicare covered 59.9 million Americans and spent $741 billion on their health care in 2018, according to CMS. But people on Medicare still faced out-of-pocket expenses because Parts A and B — known collectively as Original Medicare — don’t cover all medical costs.

medicare is something you pay into whether you like it or not......when i hit 65 i had to sign up or be penalized......thats somewhat different.....

I have only the most basic Medicare, which happened when I turned 65, whether I wanted it or not. I do not use medical care, so it's moot.

In the US, we could have universal health care paid out of general tax revenue, like most western democracies do (they all also have private health care should you want to go that route). But we spend all that money that could be used to heal people on our war machine. And that's the choice we've made. The wrong choice imho. But that's what it is.

So it is okay for those who never put a dime into Medicaid and Medicare to suck off the government tits, but those that actually contributed to it, shouldnt receive anything, am i right?

Uhmmm... you need to pull your head out of your ass.

While the current 12.3 percent poverty rate is welcome news, it’s worth considering why it isn’t a whole lot lower given how much money we’ve poured into the government’s anti-poverty war chest. The estimated aggregate cost of the War on Poverty is nearly $28 trillion, which is three and a half times higher than the $8 trillion total price tag of every major war since the American Revolution.

Oh and by the way, if we didnt have a war machine, we wouldnt have a country, and wouldnt have a good healthcare either.

Stop allowing diseased illegals to use our emergency rooms for free, and soon prices of healthcare would go down....

If you think tapping Medicare, or any government program we are FORCED to pay for, makes someone a hypocrite if they then also oppose that program, then you are simpleton (or, more likely, a dishonest, partisan hack). Go fuck yourself.

Go ahead. What are you waiting for?

Yeah. Kind of perverse, isn't it? Sick motherfuckers point a gun at you, demand you pay for all their statist shit, and then play these kinds of games.

It'd paid into with our own money through taxes. The qualification for Part A is having worked in the Country for 10 years.

I'm not talking about the war on poverty. So calm down and please try again.

We could. But, thankfully, we don't.

Uh huh - what does any of this have to do with the OP?

No, but you sure did talk about the money going to the very people who keep this country from being taken over by China....Think their healthcare is good or even their air?

Again, you're way off topic, I never mentioned China.
Dude, you bashed the military spending, and without that, we would be owned by China. Are you really that stupid not to understand that concept?

How many other western democracies are actually owned by China right now. Since they don't spend anywhere near what we spend on war.
And it's not about poverty. Sheesh, go back to bed.

Yeah, they dont spend what we spend because most of the fuckers rely on US to take care of them. That was why President Trump started pushing the "FAIR SHARE" in NATO.. You really are an ignorant fool arent you?
