Medicare Will Require Prior Approval for Certain Procedures

Theres a lot of abuse and waste in the Medicare system. This will help reduce some of that.

IMO----procedures ordered by physicians do not constitute abuse and waste

What about physicians who milk the system and have their elderly patients come back every few weeks for another “check” of a stable condition that needs monitoring once a year?

Lots of physicians are getting very rich by booking frequent appointments and ordering unnecessary tests and procedures.

As the poster above said, don’t be naive.

Who says it Medicaid? I’m talking about Medicare.

The A.I. companies selected to oversee the program would have a strong financial incentive to deny claims. Medicare plans to pay them a share of the savings generated from rejections.

Sounds lucrative!

Who is going to determine what is necessary and whst is not? Some rich person? Ummm, no thank you.

The government said the A.I. screening tool would focus narrowly on about a dozen procedures, which it has determined to be costly and of little to no benefit to patients.

Those procedures include devices for incontinence control, cervical fusion, certain steroid injections for pain management, select nerve stimulators and the diagnosis and treatment of impotence.

Well, look in the bright side, there a dozen procedures hospitals won't kill you over now.

I would have liked to have seen gender reassignments on that list.
What insurance pays for gender reassignment?

Maybe, or maybe its simply a way to start cutting our benefits. Why do our elected officials look at sovial security and medicare as costing alot?

Maybe Methusaleh ought to go take a nap and leave the discussion to those of us who can still discuss the topic. No one is trying to mess with your "sovial security and medicare".

Probably the same company or companies that UHC used to deny thousands of procedures. It will be lucrative. Damaged Care, everyone should see that documentary from the early 90's about Humana.

So it should be the doctor ripping off the Medicare system and getting rich by having his patients come in every several weeks “just to check” and ordering unnecessary tests?

it stinks like shit----people will die
All of this concern except for the ways and behaviors that affect your health and life. Adn there is a lot of it with Prog voters. That is different. At some point, medical care and medicine will be legislated to citizens and ended when deemed enough by the all-powerful state.

Perhaps a board of average voters who want the system to work for those of us who paid into it our entire working lives . Those people should rarely ifvever be denied necessary services.

What we are told can look alot different from what happens.

Again, the problem is that MANY elderly are being told to come in for appointments every several weeks UNNECESSARILY to monitor stable conditions.

Medicare will but it's very hard with the hoops to get it approved. Also some insurance do or did.
Medicare is normally for people over 65. If you have lived that long in the wrong gender, you don't need it! If you are disabled, what does it matter?

The whole thing should never be covered by any insurance as it is elective.
