Yep, them beefy boys need some slimmin..but thats kinda what hegseth was talking about. Our generals have gotten soft so our troops have gotten soft. We need hard generals so we can have hard troops!

Wait...that last line didnt sound so good...what I mean to say is we need our generals to lead by example!

We have to keep in mind that these are "National Guard" units, not the regular military. Having served 23 years in the military, we referred to the National Guard units as "weekend warriors." They generally have other jobs and go out for occasional training, but not necessarily out there in rigorous physical training every morning. At 45, I still had to be out there at 5:30 in the morning, doing a few calisthenics, then running my ass off with the unit before breakfast. The Guardsmen or women, for the most part get their derrieres out of bed have breakfast and go to work.
Not to detract from the major contributions they make in hazardous and combat areas when they are activated and have to serve in foreign regions. After all, they are putting their lives on the line the same as the regular active service and must be respected for it.

No, they need troops, period. It used to be the army of poor peole, and now even poor people have caught on that hopping the pond to be a bullet stopper for a cause nobody can describe isn't that attractive.

And the new marketing campaign of "Maybe get to shoot your neighbors!" isn't going to fare much better.

.

There is a priest in my diocese who serves as a chaplain in the Guard who just came back from a six month deployment.

I dont think you and I are talking about the same thing.

We're you guys under the impression that the extra weight on personnel would magically disappear right after Hegseth's speech?
This was the sort of reason why he made the speech in the first place.

15th post
It's bad enough keeping the active duty troops within the weight guidelines, I can only imagine what it would be like trying this with weekend warriors. America is a fat society, we have shit food and massive portion sizes, these guys and gals show up one weekend a month, they are probably not even being weighed more than once a year.

I see a few of you agreeing to my post....I just wonder which part.....

😆

How slim do they have to be to pick up garbage on the sidewalk?
