Putin invaded when Trump left, because it was only going to get harder for him. He figured Trump weakened NATO and the western alliance, and Biden was only going to re strengthen those alliances. So he struck while the iron was hot.

I'm thankful that you're not a military general or the Commander-in-Chief. The whole point of doing a military campaign is to 1) win, 2) win as quickly as possible, and 3) win with the least amount of casualties/loss of equipment as possible. If Trump had weakened NATO and was going to not give much of a fight to Putin, the iron was hot to strike while Trump was IN OFFICE. Putin can't get his generals to form a battle plan in four years? It's not like Putin has to convince his generals to follow orders. Don't do it, and they'll find themselves in a forest around Moscow with a double-tap in the back of their head.
