McDonald Island condemns tariffs.

Before I retired I had a client who was an executive at a national paint company. He walked me through his supply chain and how each element of it affected both price and supply of materials down the line. All the way down to the color mix of their label on their cans. It was incredible to listen to (if you're a business nerd).

There is no understanding of this by MAGA. Zero. And obviously that starts at the top.
I worked for DuPont's Automotive Finishes division.

During my 20 years there DuPont went out of their way to use US suppliers when they could.

Take a 1 gallon lined automotive paint can.....They could have imported them for .50 cents each but they stuck with an US supplier for $1.25 a can because the quality was better and the company was 100% dependable.....Well, that and the profit margin was so huge it did not hurt the bottom line much.

Some of the pigments were imported (red and orange) and that was because US regulations made it cost prohibitive to make them here.

Well, no they didn't as no one actually lives there and there is no trade between them and anyone. One might think I post this to make fun of Trump, and while also true, it is done to show how little thought Trump actually puts into anything.

He can't take the time to actually research things and deal in facts. He simply swings wildly with little thought about how his actions affects anything.

Social media users were quick to point out, however, that the list included uninhabited islands and a territory where the only significant settlement was a U.S. military base.

Among them, the uninhabited Heard and McDonald Islands – an Australian territory and one of the most remote places on Earth – was slapped with a 10% “reciprocal tariff.”

The British Indian Ocean Territory was also slapped with a 10% reciprocal tariff, despite the fact that the only inhabitants of the islands are U.S.-U.K. military personnel and contractors, who occupy a Joint Military Facility in the territory.

Whoops! Trump Slaps Tariffs on Uninhabited Islands

It's one thing to do things differently but it's another to try and do it with a bunch of clueless amateurs.
What about the endless tariffs on taxpayers supporting ghettos. We can name the ghettos in different cities year after year, decade after decade.

I worked for DuPont and they did nearly everything they could to ship our jobs to China.

They kept on trying to get us to use the cheap Chinese plastics but they were such a pain to work with and the customers didn't want the product because it was interior.

They still constantly tried to push them.

Not because of tariffs. Getting rid of tariffs doesnt make other countries labor more expensive.

People will only pay for more expensive stuff if there is value. You call "cheap plastic" from China bad but isnt that really up to the consumer?

What division?

Yes, and they continued to reject it. But the company kept trying to push it.

I highlighted the relevant text that these actions fail on.
Haha no they don’t, geez every country he put a tariff against has one against us

Are you really this ignorant?

Haha no you didn’t, McDonald Island is not a country, it’s part of a country that has tariffs on us

Wow you really are dumb

I'm not the one who singled them out (among others) for tariffs.

So being an Australian Territory the tariffs on Australia apply to the island as well. Here’s a fucking mind blower for you to try and wrap your head around. The territorial waters being a part of Australia now have tariffs on them. Trump is tariffing the ocean!
