Army Reserve unit of captured soldier marks U.S. return
The only U.S. Army soldier listed as captured in Iraq or Afghanistan will be honored today during his military unit's welcome-home ceremony.
Army Reserve Specialist Matt Maupin of Batavia was taken captive on April ninth when a fuel truck convoy was ambushed by insurgents west of Baghdad. His whereabouts are unknown. About 130 members of Maupin's unit returned home without him on Wednesday.
The unit is spending several days at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, before returning to civilian life.
Maupin's parents are in Wisconsin to welcome the troops, although his mother, Carolyn, says it will be difficult to be there without her son.
