Matthew Lannon, Rhode Island Sixth Grader, Gives Gay Marriage Speech At Hearing

just what blows you skirt up over what a sixth grader says?

like he wasn't taught this by someone? or he's just brilliant and came up with it on his own?

Does it matter where he learned it from? The medium isn't the message. The message is the message.

And how do you know he didn't come up with it on his own? Just because he's young doesn't mean he's stupid.

the sick with you people is using children for a agenda

Did you watch the video?

How was the boy abused?

A sixth grade student stunned the Rhode Island Senate judiciary committee with a profound speech on same-sex marriage.

Twelve-year-old Matthew Lannon, who says he has two moms and two dads who have been together for 14 years, told the crowd, "My parents, and all the other gay and lesbian people here, just want to be happy."

Describing his parents' commitments as "very, very real," he added, "All they want is to be treated fairly. But unlike most of you, they have to come again here year after year and explain over and over why their love is equal to yours. This year, you have the opportunity to change that. I say, choose love.”

Not old enough to vote, but old enough to run the country. Go figure.

That's usually what these loons screech about when they have nothing of substance to say. Good luck getting a coherent response.

It seems to be the case, that if someone has an opposing opinion instead of discussing the reasons behind it, either name calling or sweeping statements are made with no substance behind the statement. :dunno:

Do you think he should not have any right to make a statement to the senate about his feelings on a matter that affects his life?

Does that apply to ALL children on ALL matters in regards to approaching the senate or other public government platforms?

Should children be seen and not heard?

Political discussions 101. I lurk on conservative and liberal forums, and while some people are rational and will actually discuss the issues, they always seemed to be drowned out by trolls who can't make a post without spitting out insults every other sentence or bringing up completely unrelated issues.

How is giving testimony running the country?

No, I do not. Not until he is old enough to have a clue. He is nothing but a parrot. Heather may have two mommies, but she has a daddy somewhere who should be supporting her.

So what is that kid's view on incestuous marriage? why should they be denied the right to love the ones they love?

Because laws prohibiting ‘incestuous marriage’ are applied to everyone equally, unlike laws prohibiting same-sex couples access to marriage. There is also evidence in support of such prohibitions, also absent with regard to same-sex marriage.

A state may enact regulatory measures provided such measures are applied to everyone equally, where all may have access to the law or no one has access to the law, and those measures are predicated on documented, objective evidence.

A State cannot so deem a class of persons a stranger to its laws.

It does seem to be true. But why is it like that are people not interested in talking about it?

Well, here's a flash. Sex with your first cousin in KY is 'deemed' to be incest. But cross the border into TN or go to California and sex with your first cousin is 'deemed' to not be incest and is perfectly legal.

It's awful how they are using children today for these things, kid in grade school

that parent should be slapped and charged with child abuse

Typical conservative. You claim to hate big government until you can use it for your own purposes.

Giving a statement before his state's legislative body is running the country now?

Not a single one of you in this thread has made a valid argument against what he has said. It's all Ad Hominem attacks.
