What I think we need to do is recognize the obvious fact that this all exists on a fragile continuum, and work to find and maintain that continuum without ignorantly screaming SOCIALISM at every last damn thing that moves.

The problem is that they have been conditioned to view damn near anything in binary terms. All or nothing. This or that. Free market capitalism or miserable communism. It can only be one or the other, that's it.

Of course, most things exist along a continuum, and the key is finding the optimal place along that continuum. But that's too complicated. They don't want to, or can't, put out the requisite intellectual effort for that.

Each one of those items exist on a continuum, has its own set of standards, and is defined differently by different people.

In other words, they are not "one size fits all". Neither end seems to recognize that. Things don't improve for all until and unless they do.
