Maryland teacher under investigation, 'reassigned' out of classroom after video shows students unbraiding hair, painting his nails in class.​

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — A Maryland teacher is getting a lot of attention and criticism after posting a video of his students unbraiding his hair in a classroom.
As of Wednesday, the video has been seen nearly 7 million times on the teacher's TikTok page alone, and it’s been reposted all over.
Marquis White said he is a middle school Science teacher. WUSA9 confirmed with Prince George’s Schools, he is a teacher in the county.

In the video, White said he asked 4-5 of his students who he calls “besties” for help.

Yes the teacher is an adult. You wonder if he was trained and/or certified to teach.

Teachers are told to keep students out of their space; that 360 degree one to two feet apart from you.

That particular school's "Code of Conduct" for the staff has it in writing that students must be kept out of the teachers space away from their bodies-maintain boundaries/space from the students.

Code of Conduct also states that no teacher is ever allowed to record students for any reason unless they are teaching an assignment, and the school has to have the parents permission.

Seems to me like he was doing a "side hustle" and using the students to make tik Tok money.

Any time a teacher is sent out of the classroom under investigation they have also been fired.

They never ever return back to that classroom, to that school, nor to that school district - not ever!

Teachers are taught and well trained to... teach to the bell.

You are to extend the lesson all the way unto that bell rings. As far as students finishing an assignment early there is always the back up assignments they do when they are finished with the first one.

Last ten minutes of class you hold a class discussion about the assignment, but you never ever let student touch you-not at the middle and high school levels.

Probably the saddest thing about this is that this teacher had 3-5 students in class he called his "besties"

How did that make the rest of the students feel?

Most likely, awful. It dehumanized the rest of the students.
