Marvelous Marvin Hagler passes away

RIP. One of the best boxers of all time.

One of my friends dads fave. He had character and an old-school swagger. Took losing very personal and didn't do it very often. Some of the moments from fights against Sugar Ray are etched in my mind when the adults would watch the fights on TV.

Reminds me how much more character and expression all figures had so many decades ago be it sports or otherwise. Losing such characters in todays vanilla, sterile, corporate driven society is a bloody travesty.

RIP Hagler.

The Hagler vs. Lenard fight, Lenard would run away from him the whole round and then flurry the last 30 seconds of the round.

One of the best mediocre boxers in middle weight.

Mediocre? You have absolutely no clue of what you speak

Moonies a troll who knows nothing at all, so don't waste time feeding him. Hagler was one of the greats, of that there is no doubt.

Forget that creep. He is ALWAYS trolling. No wonder his idol is Bart Simpson.

You're correct. I've always believed that if Haglers team had negotiated a 15 round fight instead of a 12 round fight, Leonard would not have made it through stealing another 3 rounds. Hagler was the naturally bigger and stronger man, and had Ray running near the end.

 Indeed, hope he did not suffer. On the positive side,he is much more fortunate than we all are.he is in a much better place where he is now than where we all are, that’s for sure.

I remember him coming over to take the title from Alan Minter. He destroyed him, it was great stuff. I seem to remember that the London crowd invaded the ring at the end as Minter was a big local hero.

RIP. One of the best boxers of all time.

This is so sad. He was without a doubt one of the ALL TIME greats.

I was privileged to see him fight Sugar Ray Leonard in Vegas when Leonard came out of retirement. I always believed that Hagler won.

RIP CHAMP.
In his prime, Leonard would have beaten Hagler, easily. My opinion and 3 bucks get me a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

What particular strengths do you believe that Leonard had that would have given him an edge over Hagler if they had fought when both were in their prime?

When they did fight both were far past their best years.

Keep in mind that Leonard was a natural welterweight (147 pounds) and Hagler fought his entire career at 160.
