Martial Law

No one is really backing Yoon. Even the leader of his own party has condemned the declaration, and the national assembly has already overridden it.

Under South Korean law, the dictator wannabe has to abide by their vote.

Maybe you should move there and post your leftist sewage on their boards.
You guys seem to have a problem identifying the bad guy.

The one declaring martial law is almost always the bad guy.

Duhhh. Because the people who started occupying government buildings in S. Korea are leftists and N. Korean sympathizers.
No one is more ignorant than you on this board, dipshit.

The legislators rushed to the national assembly so they could vote against Yoon's declaration. Yoon sent the police to stop them.

These aren't "lefists and N. Korean sympathizers" you *******, *******, ******* idiot.

These are people trying to preserve their democracy.

You need to shut the **** up and let the adults talk.

Other people are in the streets to be with their families before their movements are restricted by the dictator wannabe.

It sounds like leftists are acting up and occupying government buildings in S, Korea.
More like the military taking control and refusing to let the people's representatives do their work.

". . . National Assembly Speaker Woo Won Shik, in an emergency statement released on his YouTube channel, called for all lawmakers to gather immediately at the National Assembly and urged military and law enforcement personnel to “remain calm and hold their positions.

TV footage showed police officers blocking the entrance of the National Assembly and helmeted soldiers carrying rifles in front of the National Assembly’s main building to restrict the entrance of people.

An Associated Press photographer saw at least three helicopters, likely from the military, that landed inside the Assembly grounds, while two or three helicopters circled above the site.

Cho Kuk, a leader of a minor opposition party, said there were not enough lawmakers present to vote down the martial law declaration, as police blocked the entrance. . . "

And just like that, we see why fascism is considered a right wing ideology.
I'm glad to see a lefty admit that Zelensky is a fascist! :113:

You really can’t think of a highly relevant difference between South Korea and Ukraine?

Apparently you never received your score card in the mail, so can't tell the players from each other, can you?

The South Korean President's own statement from this morning:

Soldiers surround parliament after South Korea declares martial law

South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law in a shock address on Tuesday night, shutting down political opposition and media outlets, with police and soldiers surrounding the parliament complex in Seoul.

I declare martial law to protect the free Republic of Korea from the threat of North Korean communist forces, to eradicate the despicable pro-North Korean anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people, and to protect the free constitutional order,” Yoon said in a televised briefing at 10.30pm local time.

Through this martial law, I will rebuild and protect the free Republic of Korea, which is falling into the depths of national ruin. I will eliminate anti-state forces as quickly as possible and normalise the country.”

From your post;

". . The military issued a statement imposing a ban on political activity including protests and opposition party activities.

“All political activities, including those related to the National Assembly, regional assemblies, political parties, the forming of political organisations, rallies and protests are banned,” said the statement signed by General Park An-su, who has been appointed Martial Law Commander. . . :

That's political authoritarianism. I have seen no proof of N. Korean involvement, you have some?

If not, both of those actions would be contrary to our Bill of Rights.

You really can’t think of a highly relevant difference between South Korea and Ukraine?
Not really.

Lincoln allowed elections in the midst of a civil war.

Authoritarians gonna diktate.

S. Korea is using the same playbook as Ukraine. . . it is obvious. Just outlaw opposing political parties and free speech.

Ukraine is in an existential fight.

South Korea’s president just doesn’t like the political opposition.

. Let's hope this is not the start of something bigger.

Should be over in a few days .
Kimmy in his brand new Super Tank will personally drive down to the National Assembly in Seoul and declare himself the Number Un.
The Goon Yoon will not last long hiding under Martial Law.

Another BRICS convert .
Next step --- over the water Kimmy and take Nip Land ( Yapan ).

When is the last time Russia had a free and fair election, genius?

Not since 1999.

Putin's critics have a bad habit of falling out of windows and off of boats to their deaths. Or they end up poisoned and sentenced to life in the gulag, and THEN killed.

No one is allowed to run opposed to Putin.

Perhaps you don't understand the LEGITIMATE use of MARTIAL law. You know, during ACTUAL wartime. Like in Ukraine.

Martial law is extended in 90-day intervals in Ukraine, with the APPROVAL OF THE PARLIAMENT. Zelensky does NOT have dictatorial powers.

How is Ukraine supposed to hold elections while civilians are under constant bombardment by a mass murdering war criminal? Enquiring minds want to know.

81 percent of Ukrainians do not want elections until the war is over.

Says nothing about “communists” occupying any buildings.

Did you make that up?

They're sure as hell not conservatives. South Korea's opposition is the "Democratic Party", which like here in the US, leans toward liberalism, progressive policies, and the left.

Close enough to call them "commies."

Hypocrite.

If folks in Ukraine could vote, they might vote for someone that would preserve Ukraine, instead of letting Russia destroy all of it.

From the PoV of S. Korea's president, if he does not do what he did, it would lead to making S. Korea into something akin to the north. . . for them? It is an existential crisis.

. . . if you really believe the wishes of the voters ARE the sovereign, then no, you are wrong. You don't outlaw political opposition, no matter what the nation is involved in.

We saw this with Lincoln and the civil war.

I have done some research into their elections.

All the ways we here in the U.S rig ours? Are the same damn methods the Russians use to rig theirs.

Ours are only marginally more fair TBH.

And where is it shown that they were “illegally” occupying government buildings?

Horseshit. Total unmitigated horseshit.
