IMO, if Vance wins, that will be... the final straw for them. At this point, I think they are still hoping that Trump is a fluke, some type of charisma based min maxed build, that once gone, things will go back to "normal".

If Vance wins, that will crush that hope, and they will have to face that this, MAGA, is the new normal.
