Trump completely bungled the response to COVID-19, and that bungle has greatly increased the number of people who have become sick and the number of those who have died. He has consistently sought to undermine and hollow-out important American institutions such as the fourth estate (the press,) the intelligence community, the FBI, and government scientists in the CDC, the FDA, and the EPA to name a few.
