Keeping MJ on the list of Schedule I drugs is a policy decision and wrong headed.

MJ is ubiquitous in our society and the effort to prohibit it has had the same negative impact as did the Volstead Act.

Here's some food for thought (sorry you're on a diet CrusaderFrank).

It's not a drug, it's an herb.

it is an herb that is a drug, or at least contains drug like compounds.

it doesn't change the fact that its prohibition is counter-productive, and has been an overall failure.

I seriously dont understand this topic when we live in a medication nation but they side eye goes toward Weed? Prescription pills is killing off a whole generation and we're putting weed under intense scrutiny?

Something is wrong with us

Treating Pot like alcohol is a better idea, let the States decide if they want to legalize it.

Let each state choose to legalize it, or IMO regulate it, tax it and control its distribution. It should not be up to the people to vote on it, since the amount of money used to oppose MJ will be enormous.

The Adult Beverage Industry and Big Pharma as well as the DEA all stand to loose revenue if the competitive market is allowed to flourish. Expect Reefer Madness to be rewritten and produced by those who benefit from its prohibition - including the 50+ Billion Dollars earned by the purveyors in the Black Market.

Yes, indeed, people can't think and pot isn't going to improve the situation. Prescription drugs have a set dosage for the ailment. You're thinking of the abuse that kills people, millions benefit greatly for them.

The problem with pot, and why it's probably still not accepted, is that it opens up the drug world to you. It's natural to try something more intense. Booze can do that with some but most people don't get that carried away with it and probably most adults drink to one degree or another. Pot seems to alter your personality like booze doesn't. The next day, if you don't have a hangover, you back to who you were.

It's up to the State to decide if and how they want to legalize it, and a referendum is one of the options. What happened in Ohio is a good example, as the method of legalization chosen (Cartel) is what doomed the bill to defeat.

From my observations its not that Pot leads to other drugs, its that people who are going to end up on other drugs start with pot.

I have plenty of friends who just do pot, and maybe shrooms from time to time. No coke, no meth, no acid.

I myself stopped at pot, and I feel no desire to continue on.

The only other drug I have taken is Xanax when I have to fly (I hate flying).

I do honestly believe you are challenged by reality (that is, you're nuts).

"Pot seems to alter your personality like booze doesn't" is one of the dumbest remarks (aside from anything posted by Stephanie or CrusaderFrank) in the history of the message board.

Ask any cop, any bartender, any cab driver or anyone in touch with reality if they would rather have an encounter with a drunk or a stoner.

That still reeks havoc on your body dosage or not. Thats why they have side effects and drugs for the side effects to your drugs. No, what I am thinking about is the people who get on these company sponsored drugs that kill people or turn them into addicts of stronger stuff

If that was truely your concern you would know that right now prescription drugs are the biggest problem and biggest killer for white males right now. Not weed...but its not about weed. Its about you "feelings" and you feel that weed is worse because it wasnt created in a lab which is "better" for you.

Wednesday’s announcement is part of a broader effort to fight opiate addiction and crack down on the overprescribing of powerful drugs. There has been a steep increase in the number of heroin overdoses nationwide, with deaths from the drug quadrupling in the past decade. Many who abuse heroin initially used prescription painkillers.

Then they need to try something different, like diet. But the fact remains that most people are helped unless they abuse the prescription.

In college I smoked pot socially, usually someone would fire up a J and pass it around. Three things I remember about being high:

  • Going to Doggie Diner (for I got the munchies really bad)
  • having deep conversations on how many angels could dance on a pin (or other banal debates)
  • falling asleep and (one time) dreaming in color (we had a fire in the fire place that night, and I was awakened by my GF with a sharp jab to my ribs for talking out loud in my sleep, and saying, "Oh wow" loud enough to awaken her).

The pot these days isn't what you had back in the 50s.

But pot isnt killing them. Prescriptions are. And you not concerned with whats killing, you're concerned on what YOU THINK they started with instead. That doesnt count, only proof.

Have to thank FDR for Reefer Madness

Obama is doing this to support his Choom Gang

You never post anything of substance or make a thoughtful remark. Why is that?

I'd say it's because you lack the cognitive skills to understand my posts

Cognitive skills to understand Idiot-Grams? Don't pretend to be anything but what you are, a bigoted half of a half wit.

If you'll notice, the majority of your posts run along the lines of, "I can't understand your posts, so Yer Stewpit!!!!"

The fault, Dear Freddo, lies in yourself and not in posts you can't understand
